How to redact a PDF
- Choose the PDF.
- Type the words to hide, tick the types of information to find, or drag boxes over parts of the pages.
- Click Redact PDF and download the redacted file.
Can the hidden text be recovered?
No. Pages with redactions are turned into images with the black boxes painted in, so the hidden text is removed from the file, not just covered.
Can I still search the redacted pages?
Redacted pages become images. Use OCR PDF on the result to make their remaining text searchable again.
Is it safe to upload my files?
Files are sent over an encrypted connection, processed on our servers and deleted automatically after 1 hour. You can also delete them right after downloading.
Do I need to sign up?
No. This tool is free to use without an account.
